After a very successful party at the Limelight Hotel in Sun Valley, Idaho, the FREESKIER squad packed up our Land Rover Discovery Sport, hit the road yet again and headed over to one of the most iconic ski towns on Earth: Jackson, Wyoming. A scenic four-hour drive went by like a breeze, and before we knew it, the crew was setting up shop at the Mangy Moose, a classic local watering hole right at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. It was there that we'd throw the ninth party of our Elevated Après Tour, a 15-stop traveling circus honoring the best après-ski parties in the U.S.

Between the abundance of powder-hunting locals and folks visiting for Martin Luther King weekend, the bar was totally packed. People moved about the giant, two-story space; danced around in ski boots; chatted about shredding the gargantuan resort; and, of course, enjoyed many drinks with one another. The scene encompassed what après is all about and, by extension, what the Elevated Après Tour is all about: bringing skiers together to have a good time. Nothing more and nothing less.

Then, the time came to give away a whole bunch of ski gear. And, holy moly, the party-goers were stoked. Per usual, we did this by way of a raffle—screaming winning numbers into a anxious crowd. Winners, pictured below, were understandably psyched.

All in all, Jackson Hole lived up to its top-notch après reputation, much thanks to the countless friendly skiers that showed up to the Mangy Moose and partied with us. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a place that naturally instills happiness in its guests, and to build on that happiness was a real pleasure. (Keep scrolling to learn more about the resort.)

Next up on the Elevated Après Tour: stop number 10 of 15: Big Sky, Montana. We'll be taking over Lone Peak Brewery for another evening of cheers, free gear and all sorts of Tom-foolery. We know it wont just be another evening, though, because if there's one thing this Tour has proved, it's that no two après parties are the same.

Want to join us on a future stop of the Elevated Après Tour? After Big Sky, we're heading East to Loon Mountain, New Hampshire; Sunday River, Maine; Stowe, Vermont; Killington, Vermont; and Stratton, Vermont. Click here to learn more about the Tour, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat (freeskier_mag) to stay totally up to date on what's happening.

Ski, Eat, Sleep and Discover in Jackson:

If you want to ski Jackson like the locals, test your legs with Tram laps. A top-to-bottom burner is over 4,000 vertical, serving as a challenge for the move avid of skiers. When you’ve had enough of ripping the steeps off the Tram, go get jiggy in the Stash Parks; there are five throughout the resort, all with different wooden features and hits that beg for creative riding.

Piste Mountain Bistro, the newest on-mountain dining at the top of the Bridger Gondola, serves up delicious fare, local beers on draft and cocktails that will warm you right up. The view doesn’t suck, either.

The Teton Mountain lodge has an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub with a view and Spur, a great après spot in the Village. It’s one of the best slopeside accommodations in Jackson Hole, for sure, with spacious, cozy rooms.

The Sweetwater Gondola just opened this December and it’s totally kickass. With over 1,200 vertical, this new lift provides direct access to the mid-mountain in just seven minutes.
